[Monday, August 5, 9 a.m.]

Due to the potential for severe weather associated with Hurricane Debby, the Camden County Health Department is closed as of 8 a.m. Monday, August 5. All other clinics and offices of the Coastal Health District will close at 12 p.m. on Monday, August. 5. This includes all health departments in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh Counties. We expect to re-open all locations at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8.

Updates to these closures will be reported promptly.

Anyone with a clinic appointment previously scheduled during the closure will be contacted to reschedule.

The Coastal Health District urges residents to be prepared as Hurricane Debby approaches. They should:

  • Have a three-day supply of non-perishable foods.
  • Have one gallon of water per person per day.
  • Have a three-day supply of prescription medications.
  • Turn the refrigerator to the coldest setting.
  • Secure homes by covering doors and windows.
  • Charge phones and electronics.

Hurricane Debby is expected to bring significant rainfall with potential coastal flooding, storm surge, flash flooding, and rip currents. Flooding of coastal streets and roadways is also possible. Just six inches of moving water can knock a person down, and one foot of moving water can sweep a vehicle away. We urge everyone to “Turn Around. Don’t Drown.” Learn more about flood safety at ready.gov/floods.
